New Meadow Camp Bathhouse - Grant Grove Village, Grant Grove Village
This is the new Meadow Camp bath house built in 2009. They did a so-so job of making it blend in with the surrounding historic buildings, note the vertical siding, steep gable roof, and double course of shingles on the roof every 5th row like the cabins have. The timber bracing with iron straps on the porch matches that on the newer John Muir Lodge, and looks rustic-- even if there is nothing like it on the historic buildings. What's missing? The long side of the building really needs some architectural detail to break it up. It also should have had outlookers with diagonal braces on the gable ends; every one of the other buildings in this area has them, including the recently built John Muir Lodge! Sorry for the bad photo quality, it was dusk when I took the photo.
