Virtual Tour of The The Silver King Hotel - The Silver King Hotel, Florence, AZ
Panoramic view of the Silver King Hotel in December of 2007, as viewed from the far corner of Main Street and 6th Street. At the time the photo was taken the ruins of the adobe sections of the hotel were still standing. The Silver King Hotel had 3 distinct sections, all of which are visible in this photo. The original hotel was built of adobe (dried clay brick walls, the clay was dug from the hotel site.) All that remains of the original 1876 building is the pink colored section with the large doorways sandwiched between the red-brick portion in front and the lower white walled wing in back. This original adobe hotel building extended all the way up to Main Street when built, covering much of the area where the 2-story red-brick building is now. The 2-story red-brick front section, was built in 1895 after a fire destroyed the front section of the original hotel. The white adobe wing in the back with the lower walls is the most recent wing, built sometime in the early 1900's. A second floor, that is now gone, was added above the rear white section in 1917. The red-brick portion of the hotel is currently being restored. Both of the adobe sections shown in this photo no longer exist, they were torn down in late 2008 as part of the restoration. Unfortunately there are no plans at this time to rebuild them.
